Show What a Great Lover You Are

From the writings of Sumner Wemp

Jan. 2010

Show what a great lover you are

Be the best

You may be the best golfer at your club, in your town, in the state but that is sawdust compared to being the best husband. You work at being a good hunter, fisherman, bowler, golfer or whatever you do but how much greater would it be if you and your wife worked as hard at being the best spouse you could be? The guys in your neighborhood, at the office, at your club all admire you for being a success in business but wouldn't it be far better if your children all admired you for being a success at marriage as a husband, as a father? Now honestly, doesn't that make sense?

To better your life you worked long hard hours while attending college or studying a trade. You must work as hard at having a better life in marriage. "Happy marriages don't happen, they are worked at." After being married for 56 years, I still have to work at it. My dear wife deserves all the effort I can put forth to make her happy. She is very content with what she has materially. Far more important is that we have a wonderful married life and I give her my all to make her content in marriage.

An example

Your children, your neighbors children, your friends children, your families children, all the children of the world deserves and needs you to be an example of a good husband or wife.

You do what you want to do

"Choose you whom you will serve" admonished Joshua, "but AS FOR ME..." Josh. 24:15. This is one of the greatest verses in the whole Bible, "as for me." The world can go to Hell if it wants to. People can live totally selfishly if they want. Christians can play games with God and with their lives BUT AS FOR ME. Kind sir, dear lady, make your choice. What about you?

Make a resolution for this new-year

O dear people, be the best lover for your husband/spouse. Love God first and foremost. Love each other. Love your children. WORK AT IT.  "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" 2 Cor. 4:18.

Prayer:  Father, help us all to be the best lover in our homes and in the whole world for eternity's sake and for Your glory, in Jesus name.
