QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Does pre-Fall death skew one's view of Christ's return?

Q: Does pre-Fall death skew one's view of Christ's return?

A: Our confidence in God's promise to prepare a better place in the future depends on a better place having existed before Adam's sin. At Christ's return, He will complete His work of redemption. Several verses teach that He will "restore" and "redeem" all things to a similar but even better state than the pre-Fall world. Sin will be no more.
Regardless of our differences regarding the correct interpretation of Isaiah 11:6–9, the principle expressed there strongly implies that, when Christ restores the creation, animals will no longer eat each other. Human disease, suffering, and death will cease because the Curse will be no more. The Curse came upon creation at Adam's Fall and will be removed when the Last Adam consummates history.
The idea of millions of years of death contradicts the Bible's teaching about the nature of the pre-Fall creation and the present world. It also assaults the character of God. And it undermines the certain hope the Bible gives of Christ's future redemptive work.
Read the whole article and get better equipped to defend the authority of Scripture by seeing how the death of animals before the fall was not "good."

Originally published in 1987, The Lie took a bold stand which became prophetic by warning the church about the destructive effects of compromise with evolutionary/millions-of-years ideas. QUOTES OF THE WEEK

Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

You see it is a very risky business, this changing of the Holy Scriptures. - T. DeWitt Talmage

When you hit a bump you spill what you are full of. Will it be faith or doubt? -  James McDonald.

A knowledge of the Bible without a college education is to be preferred to a college education without a knowledge of the Bible. - William Lyon Phelps of Yale University

Many of you will read a novel from beginning to end, and what have you got? A mouth full of froth when you are done. But you can not read the Bible; that solid, lasting, substantial and satisfying food goes uneaten, locked up in the cupboard of neglect; while anything that man writes, a catch of the day, is greedily devoured. - John R. Rice

Put this Bible in the hands of the troubled. You will find that as some of the best berries grow on the sharpest thorns, so some of the sweetest consolations of the Gospel grow on the most stinging affliction. You thought that death had grasped your child. Oh, no! It was only the Heavenly Shepherd taking a lamb out of the cold. Christ bent over as you held the child on your lap, and putting His arms gently around the little one said, "Of such is the kingdom of Heaven." - Rice

Put the Bible in the school. Palsied be the hand that would take the Bible from the college and the school. Educate only a man's head and you make him an infidel. Educate only a man's heart and you make him a fanatic. Educate them both together and you have the noblest work of God. An educated man without moral principle is a ship without a helm, a rushing rail-train without brakes or reversing rod to control the speed. - Rice

Put the Bible in the family. there it lies on the table, an unlimited power. Polygamy and unscriptural divorce are prohibited. Parents are kind and faithful, children polite and obedient. Domestic sorrows lessened by being divided, joys increased by being multiplied. Oh, father, oh, mother, take down that long-neglected Bible, and read it yourselves and let your children read it! - Rice

There are so many who would have you believe that the Bible is an outlandish book, and obsolete. It is fresher and more intense than any book that yesterday came out of the great publishing houses. Make it your guide in life and your pillow in death. - Rice

I live a hand to mouth existence: God's hand to my mouth. - Rice

Plan Long But Worry Short

Bill Rice Ranch - First Light Devotionals

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

If you were to take all of your possessions and stack them in one place, how much space would it require? Well, for some of us it might require a postage stamp. For others, it might require a pole barn or maybe a hanger. What about Richard Branson, the multi-billionaire dollar entrepreneur? He owns a number of ventures and businesses. I wonder how much space it would require to hold all that he owns. There's a sense in which the space it would take to hold all of your stuff and the space it would take to hold all of Richard Branson's stuff is the same space. It's the little 24-hour time period called "today."

Whatever problems or possessions you own, you're going to hold them in today. You don't own tomorrow, and you've lost yesterday. All you have is today. Yet, so many times we're planning so far ahead that we worry and cram all of tomorrow's worries into this little space called today. I'm not against planning, and I don't think God is either. But one of the dangers of planning is substituting planning for trusting God. One of the results of planning can be to drag tomorrow's problems into today. You can regret the past, but you can only worry about the future: we often do.

In Matthew 6 Jesus is talking about worry, priorities, and putting God and His kingdom first. In Matthew 6:34 He says, "Take therefore no thought [anxious worry] for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." God's grace is sufficient to this day. The problems that God allows for this day will not overflow this day. It may feel like they do, but they do not because God's grace is sufficient just as the problems are sufficient.

In Matthew 6:11 Jesus is giving us a prayer in order to teach us and He says, "Give us this day our daily bread." Most of us have never prayed for daily bread because we have bread for today, tomorrow, and the next day. If we don't have things planned out how we're going to have bread for the next 45 years, we worry.

John Rice used to say, "I live a hand to mouth existence: God's hand to my mouth."  Now, I'm not advocating carelessness in a sense of being lazy and not planning, and neither is God. But the Lord Jesus is telling you that your problems will not overflow this day and that God's grace is sufficient for this day and in this day.

Paul's Experiences

Prophecy Today Devotions
2014
Jimmy DeYoung
Thank you for reading my Prophetic Daily Devotionals!

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

For further study - II Corinthians 12:1-10

As we come to our reading today, I am eager to share several thoughts with you about the experiences of the Apostle Paul. These experiences in the life of Paul will give us insight into biblical principles that  we each can appropriate for ourselves.

Let me remind you that Paul was a brilliant man. Some scholars have said he was one of the five greatest minds that ever lived. His writings are masterpieces of literature, from a worldly perspective.

Paul tells us that in order for him to not be exalted above measure, above what he should be, he was given, by God, a "thorn in the flesh", verse 7. We don't know exactly what the "thorn" was except that it was something physical, a physical ailment of some type.

Verse 8 tells us that Paul went to the Lord in prayer to request the removal of the "thorn." It is with this backdrop of weakness that God's divine power is displayed. Just think of the awesome statement from God to Paul, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."

Even as I wrote God's statement I had to pause to think about it. This philosophy is opposite to what the world, even some elements of the Church, believe is for today. We are told all you do is pray and God will heal you. That was not the case with Paul. God's plan for Paul was to make manifest in his life the power and strength of God in his weakness, his physical ailment.

Notice in verse 10 that Paul says he took pleasure in his infirmities because it was for the "sake of Christ" that this was happening to him. In weakness Paul knew he was made strong. This is such a blessing to each of us as we face everyday with our own weakness. His grace is, indeed, sufficient.

But now look again at the beginning of our reading for today, verses 2-4. Paul writes that he knew a man who about 14 years earlier was caught up into heaven, the "third heaven". Let me explain the three heavens.

The "first heaven" is where the sun and the clouds are located. The "second heaven" is where the stars and galaxies are located. The "third heaven" is where God and Jesus are today. You see the first heaven "by day", the second heaven "by night" and the third heaven "by faith".

Paul spoke of himself as "a man in Christ" and not as one of great worthiness or as one who had achieved spiritual excellence. Paul was "caught up" into the third heaven in the will and plan of God. By the way, the phrase used here "caught up" is the same phrase describing the "Rapture" in I Thessalonians 4:17.

Paul experienced the "Rapture," the event that he had explained to the people in Thessalonica. Remember Paul's last words in II Timothy 4:8, he was looking forward to a "crown of righteousness" as he eagerly looked for Jesus to Rapture the Church into heaven.

He had the experience of the Rapture and wanted to go to heaven in that way, instead of by death. I want that also, don't you?

PRAYER THOT: Lord, help me to understand Your strength through my weakness and also eagerly await Your call for me to join You in heaven.

IS YOUR PRAISE COMELY?

Psalm 33:1, 147:1

Pastor Rick Jackson

Comely is a word we don’t use often. It means suitable, or beautiful: Is your praise suitable? Is your praise beautiful?

I. PRAISE THAT FORSAKES GOD – obviously this is not comely praise. It is neither suitable nor lovely. It is

1. Ungiven Praise [Matthew 21:16]

2. Hypocritical Praise [Jn. 9:24-41]

3. Dishonoring Praise [1 Corinthians 11:17-22]

II. PRAISE THAT IS FOR GOD

1. For His Wonderful Salvation [Rm. 15:5-13, Eph. 1:1-14]

2. For His Wonderful Working [Philippians 1:9-11, 1 Peter 1:3-9, 4:11]

3. From Thankful Hearts [Hebrews 13:15]

III. PRAISE THAT IS FROM GOD

1. Better than the Praise of Men [Jn. 12:42-48]

2. Based on Faith in God’s Word [Rm. 2:28-3:4]

3. Believer’s Receive for Heart Service [1 Corinthians 4:5]

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Why do secularists even care about what we have to say?

Q: Why do secularists even care about what we have to say?

A: In response to the atheistic, evolutionary Cosmos TV series, we have published detailed reviews to expose their lies of evolution and millions of years. As our reviews spread around the world, it seems the secularists' cannot stand the fact that we would even dare to question and expose their biased-filled conclusions for what they are.
But when considering their response to these reviews, why do they even care about what we have to say? Their naturalistic worldview is ultimately meaningless. According to their beliefs, we live and die and that is all there is. Why is it important to spread this message of hopelessness?
We need to always remember that this is a spiritual battle: those who reject God's Word do not want to submit to an almighty Creator. Instead, they want to be their own god and set their own rules. They have "exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever" (Romans 1:25). But Christians have a message of hope in Christ and that is the ultimate purpose of these Cosmos reviews—to spread the gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Read the whole article and get equipped to engage the secularists' naturalistic worldview with the truth of God's Word.
