Husbands will love this one

From the writings of Sumner Wemp

Jan 18, 2010

Husbands, you will like this

Proverbs 5:18-19. Be loving. Be gentle. Be tender. Be kind. Remember she is the "weaker vessel." Women are aroused and prepared for that wonderful physical expression of love. Dear wife, let him kiss you, let him touch you, let him caress you, realize it is right, it is in the Bible, and good to prepare you both to enjoy this wonderful physical expression of love.

Wives need to be touched

That tender touch, that gentle love pat, and loving kind words, all through the day, says, I am aware of you, I am thinking about you, I love you. That gives your wife a sense of security, a feeling of safety. It helps her to be able to freely give herself to you.

"I wasn't built that way"

How many times do you hear men say that or hear about men saying that. Neither was I. Neither is any other man. But remember, neither was your wife "built that way" to give herself to you physically without feeling emotionally attached. This is a win, win situation. You learn speak to her in a way she can understand and she will respond and speak to you in a way you understand. Women are responders. This is a truth that we do not have time to develop. Kind sir, you are the leader, you are the head of your home and must lead the way by doing what you ought to do for your wife.

"What do you want me to do"

What a great question to ask each other. It makes sense for married couples to talk freely about what each can do to the other to make them feel loved. Also discuss with one another how best to arouse each other to this highest physical expression of love. Someone said, "There are no frigid women just clumsy husbands." To me that isn't exactly true. I think most wives and husbands do not really know exactly what each needs and wants to prepare them to "physically love" each other. God says for husbands to "dwell with them according to knowledge."

Television and movies hurt

Television and movies are lying to the world. MOST women are not passionate for sex like they are portrayed on television. Men often feel something is wrong with their wives because they do not respond as they pictured. Two things that help wives better respond to their husband are: knowing the Bible says, "Be ravished" with physical love. The other is for husbands to really love their wives ALL THE TIME and show it apart from sex.

O dear people lets show our agape love all the time so the eros love will be an outcome of God's love we show each other.

Father, help us to know what our spouses need and want so we can "love" each other as we ought. In Jesus' name. All because of Calvary, sumner

Be the best lover

A PERMANENT THREE DAY SCHEDULE

HEBREWS 13:8

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. YESTERDAY

1. Forget Failures [1 John 1:8-9]

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

2. Forget Successes [Philippians 3:13]

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

3. Forget Worrying [Romans 8:28]

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Yesterday is gone, leave it with God.

II. TODAY

1. Today is the Day for Salvation [2 Corinthians 6:2b]

…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

2. Today is the Day for Standing [Ephesians 6:13]

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

3. Today is the Day for Serving [Joshua 24:15]

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Today is the day to live for God.

III. TOMORROW

1. I May Face Entirely Unexpected Situations [Proverbs 27:1]

Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

2. I May Face Eternity [James 4:13-15]

Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

3. I May Face Exceeding Joy [Titus 2:13]

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
1 Peter 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

Tomorrow must be entrusted to God. I know not what the future holds, but I do know Who holds the future.

CHOOSE RIGHT

I PETER 2:1-8

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. BABIES IN CHRIST [v. 1-3]

1. Babies Need a Change [v. 1]

2. Babies Need a Chance [v. 2]

3. Babies Need Christ [v. 3]

II. STONES IN A HOUSE [v. 4-5]

1. You Come to the Living Stone [v. 4]

2. You Become a Living Stone [v. 5a]

3. Your Connection is THE Important Thing [v. 5b]

III. SET IN CONCRETE [v. 6-8]

1. Believers “Agree” with God [v. 6-7a, Rm. 10:9-13]

2. Unbelievers Disobey God [v. 7b, 4:17]

2 Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

3. Unbelievers Destiny is Ordained [v. 8, Jude 1:4]

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK - Why are they leaving?‏

Q: Why are they leaving?
A: In our recently published book Already Gone, the research shows that many “20 somethings” have left the church because they question the truthfulness of the Bible, especially as it concerns the age of the earth. As children, they were typically taught Bible “stories” in church. They were shown bathtub-shaped arks overflowing with colorful animals but no mention of fossils, rock layers, and animal kinds.

Curriculum publishers, Sunday school teachers, and parents failed to connect the Bible to the real world. So, these children learned that you go to school to learn about history and science, and you go to church to learn moral “stories” and spiritual truths.

Sadly, many children are being taught in schools and some churches not to trust God’s Word in Genesis. This leads them to question the truthfulness of all of Scripture, and as young adults, most decide Christianity is irrelevant—and they leave the church.

May I remind you of some blessed truths in Proverbs about WISDOM?

May I remind you of some blessed truths in Proverbs about WISDOM? Thanks, I knew you would like it.

"WISDOM is more precious than rubies or silver or gold!" Prov. 3:13-14. Has this captured your thinking and evaluation of all you do?  So help me, it has mine and made an impact and a profound difference in all I do.

God says, "Get wisdom"  "Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom." Pro 4:5,7.

HOW do you get wisdom? It is not out of schools, books, teachers etc though they can help. IT COMES FROM GOD.

"If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives liberally... James 2:5.

From two parables on prayer, you "keep on asking" [Lk. 11:5-10 and Lk 18:1-5] and if you want wisdom, ask EVERY DAY. It is NOT getting smarter, it is getting wiser. There is a vast difference. I have asked for wisdom EVERY DAY for years when I caught this. It works. It has made the difference in me ministering to 12,000 people in 120 nations every Mon, Wed and Fri. for 10 years. It can make the difference in you ministering to thousands instead of dozens or scores. To God be the glory and it will be.

Most "have not because you ask not (do not keep on asking)" James 4:2. You do not ask once in a lifetime or once a year but DAILY. Make  sense? Do it and see the vast difference it makes in you and your ministry for Jesus and eternity!

Romance Before Marriage

From the writings of Sumner Wemp

Romance before marriage

An awesome responsibility
You must realize that I work at these emails[originally not as a blog]. I pray and study and agonize over each one. These on marriage are so delicate that I am struggling to say what ought to be said and to say it Scripturally and sacredly. Pray for me.

Romance, P.M. pre-marriage.

Believe it or not, I was captain of a college basket ball team at one time. When playing basketball  you can dribble a basketball all you want until you go out of bounds. Once you dribble the ball out of bounds the game is stopped and you lose the ball. The same is true about romance. Sex must be kept in the bounds of a man and his wife or you break the rules that were set by God.

Unmarried couples living together NEED someone to speak the truth in love and quickly. You and I don't make up the rules of right and wrong. The world is living as stated in the following scripture "every man did what was right in his own eyes" Judges 17:6. The advice columns are filled with tales of couples who live together without being married. The excuse is that the marriage license is only a piece of paper and we don't need it to live together. I am sorry but it is sin and it often leaves wounds and bruises that seldom are ever healed.

Romance OK until...

Holding hands, hugging and kissing, to most people in today's society  are normal and expected in romance. When sexual urges are aroused prior to marriage you must stop for God says if a man "lusts after a woman in his heart" Matt 5:28 he has committed adultery in his heart and that is sin. We must remember and understand that God is holy that God looks at the heart.

A.M. side of romance

After marriage, romance is to be enjoyed to the fullest! Read Proverbs 5:18-23. WOW. More to come on this subject.

Prayer:  O dear people it is so important that we all live pure and holy lives so we can glorify God and be filled with His blessing and joy. Father, bless Your dear people and help us to walk in the Sprit and not the flesh so we can live holy lives for Your glory and our good. In Jesus name

Marriage is a covenant between you and God so we should treat it as such and Glorify God through our marriage.

Contentment

It means a lot to know that so many people are praying for me. As we wait for a go ahead from the insurance and then and opening to see doctors at Mayo, I find it easy to get frustrated as the days drag by. During this period I have had bouts with pain that are redefining what I thought I knew about pain. Through the frustrations and periods of pain Philippians 4:11 keeps coming to mind..."learning to be content." I have also found myself returning again and again to Ron Hamilton's song, Rejoice in the Lord" that he wrote after losing an eye to cancer. "God never moves without purpose or plan, when trying His servant and molding a man. Give thanks to the Lord though your testing seems long: In darkness He giveth a song. I could not see through the shadows ahead; So I looked at the cross of my Savior instead. I bowed to the will of the Master that day; Then peace came and tears fled away. Now I can see testing comes from above: God strengthens His children and purges in love. My Father knows best, and I trust in His care; Through purging more fruit I will bear. O rejoice in the Lord. He makes no mistake. He knoweth the end of each path that I take. For when I am tried and purified, I shall come forth as gold." Don't be afraid to speak to someone who is walking through the valley. It isn't always your words they need. A hug or a squeeze as you pause to walk with them for a moment often says all that you want to and is often all that they need! Resting in Him. JG

MUCH MORE

ROMANS 5

Pastor Rick Jackson

There are some great things about being saved. [v. 1-8] Any one of these things would be more than enough reason for any reasonable person to trust Christ and to be thankful enough to show it by living for Him but the Scriptures tells us- we have much more.

I. WE HAVE SAFETY [v. 9]

-won’t go through the tribulation [Revelation 6:16]

And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

II. WE HAVE SECURITY [v. 10-11]

-won’t lose what we didn’t pay for anyway [Jn. 6:37-40]

III. WE HAVE SUFFICIENCY [v. 12-15]

1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

IV. WE HAVE SURETY [v. 16-17]

V. WE HAVE SUPERIORITY [v. 18-22]

Romance in Marriage, see what the Bible says - WOW!

From the writings of Sumner Wemp

Jan 13, 2010

Romance in marriage, see what the Bible says - WOW!

"Let her breasts satisfy you at all times" Prov. 5:19. What a staggering statement in the Bible. It is there on purpose. It is a Biblical principal for married men. Husbands and wives need to know this and apply it as God intended.

It changed her marriage
While speaking in a marriage seminar, a beautiful lady asked if she could speak to me. She asked, "Why is it that every time my husband kisses me he puts his hands on my breast. It is as if he is a sex fiend."
I asked, "Do you think I am a sex fiend?"
"Of course not" she replied.
"What would you say if I told you that most of the time when I kiss my wife in private, I put my hand on her breasts? I love every bone in her body and to me it is just pouring love into her. I am not always thinking about sex but just loving her." To say she was shocked is an understatement.

The next day she said, "Last night I went to bed with my husband and for the first time I did not feel dirty. You made sex sound so right and loving."
A few months later she told me that the truth had transformed their marriage. She was able to respond to her husband's wonderful physical expression of love as she should. This realization brought a new joy to their marriage that had been missing.

Why some wives don't respond as they should is that some women were brought up in an ultra conservative family, where sex was not to be mentioned outside the confines of the bedroom. It is often hard for them to respond as God intended for wives to do because they have learned to associate sex as something dirty - not of God. Then some women learned about sex in a very wrong atmosphere. Other women were mistreated, molested and even raped and this has scared them for life.

A wife had been raped
After I had preached in a church, a young couple came to me and the wife was weeping and sobbing. She had been raped while in college and devastated from it and still held bitterness in her heart. I told her as I have told many "Pray as the Lord Jesus did, Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. Then by faith, forgive the man who assaulted you, turn your hurt and bitterness over to God. Once you have turned all over to God, move forward with your dear husband who loves you no matter what happened." This young lady prayed with me right then and you should have seen the peace of God come over her. She grabbed her husband and they kissed and their marriage was transformed.

Let him be satisfied
O dear ladies, let your husband be satisfied with your body. You don't want him to look and lust after other women. Let him be so satisfied with you that he will be like Joseph when Potiphar's wife tried to entice him. She said, "Lie with me." He said, "How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?" Gen. 39:9.
Don't worry I am going to be hard on husbands who do not give you the love and tenderness that women need and deserve from their husbands.

To be continued: the need and joy of romance in marriage. God loves you and so do I, all because of Calvary, sumner

Prayer: Father, bless this couple and make their marriage so full of love and joy that they will a great example, good role models to young people and young couples, In Jesus name

Please understand that romance was intended by God to be great between a husband and wife. We pray for all marriages to have God as the leader and focal point of their relationship.

Romance in Marriage, Scripturally and Spiritually

From the writings of Sumner Wemp

Romance in marriage, Scripturally and spiritually

A.M. (after marriage) Romance

"Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice in the wife of your youth. As a loving kind and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be exhilarated always with her love" Prov. 5:18, 19. This intimate relationship of a man and his wife is meant to be enjoyed to the fullest. God says be ravished (intoxicated or exhilarated, Hebrew) with her love, this is referring to this wonderful physical expression of love in marriage. This intimacy is not only for procreation but also for pleasure! "Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge" Heb 13:4. More on this in the next section on sex. Don't miss this. Stay with us.

Keep romance in marriage

Holding hands, hugging and kissing MUST continue after the wedding bells have stopped ringing. This is especial essential for the wife's sake. Kind sir, you were Romeo incarnate while dating her. You took the initiative to hold her hand, to hug her and to kiss her. A good strong and healthy intimate relation in the bed begins by holding her hands, hugging and kissing all through the day. This tells her you love her and not just her body. Doesn't that make sense?

Look and touch

A man is aroused and prepared for this intimate relation by sight as well as touch, a woman is aroused mostly by touch, tender caressing. This is so important for both husband and wife to understand and to respond. Let him look for his sake. In fact, encourage him to look. Better yet, entice him to look so he won't be enticed to look at other women. He will love you the more for it. So much more on this later.
Why does God say for a man not to look at a woman to lust after her? Because a man is aroused by sight. That is why God says for women to be dressed in 1 Tim. 2:9-10 "women adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly. As is proper for women making a claim to godliness." God wants women to conceal the intimate parts of our body. The world does all it can to reveal as much of the female body as they can get away with. Remember, "Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes" Matt. 18:7. Ladies be sure you don't put out a stumbling block by the way you dress, before men who are not your husband. Rom. 14:13.
Let him touch for your sake as well as his. "Let her breast satisfy you at all times." Still ahead, Why some women have a hard time with this admonition and the cure for it. Don't miss the next couple of weeks for great truths, right out of the Bible, for a marriage filled with "rejoicing" Pro 5:18.

O dear people, "happy marriages don't happen, they are worked at." "Live with your wives in an understanding way" 1 Peter 3:7. We must understand each other and do what is essential for both to enjoy their marriage and the intimate relations that God intends to be enjoyed.
Good news, Christ died for our sins, paid our debt and rose again so God, who is holy, could forgive us our sins, give us a new birth and finally take us to heaven instead of us going to hell. Believe and receive the Lord Jesus, right now, if you haven't already. You are loved with agape love by God and me, all because of Calvary, sumner

QUESTION OF THE WEEK- Egyptian history and the Bible--are they compatible?

Answers Weekly

answersingenesis.org | newsletter archives | contact us
January 9, 2010

a weekly look at answersingenesis.org

top leftIn this issue . . .

Q: Egyptian history and the Bible—are they compatible?

In Chapter 26 of our Unwrapping the Pharaohs series, John Ashton and David Down demonstrate just how susceptible to error is our understanding of the ancient world.

As far as chronology is concerned, the Third Intermediate Period is the villain of the piece. On the assumption that Dynasties 21 to 25 were consecutive, early scholars dated them approximately 1070–665 B.C., but a number of recent scholars have challenged this assumption. Although Manetho seems to regard Dynasties 21 to 25 as successive, most scholars now acknowledge that Dynasties 22 and 23 are contemporary with each other, and Dynasties 24 and 26 are contemporary with Dynasty 25. Revisionists claim that Dynasties 21 and 22 should also be regarded as contemporary with other dynasties. This would reduce Egyptian dates by some 250 years.
That such a drastic revision is feasible is bluntly stated by Dr. Colin Renfrew of Cambridge University in his foreword to the book by Peter James, Centuries of Darkness. He wrote,
"This disquieting book draws attention, in a penetrating and original way, to a crucial period in world history, and to the very shaky nature of the dating, the whole chronological framework, upon which our current interpretations rest. . . . The revolutionary suggestion is made here that the existing chronologies for that crucial phase in human history are in error by several centuries, and that, in consequence, history will have to be rewritten. . . . I feel that their critical analysis is right, and that a chronological revolution is on its way."

A GOOD TESTIMONY (& a prayer request)

A good friend of mine, former foreign missionary and current pastor in the western United States, Jim Greenacre, recently learned he had what they thought were tumors. For prayer and for praise (you'll see) I give his latest update.

Well here we go with the post-consultation update. It was a tough visit with the doctor but it answered many of our questions and at the same time raised lots of new ones.

It is liposarcoma which means it is cancer. After viewing the ct film the doctor said that it was probably all one tumor and the only way to treat it is to remove it. That part we already knew. What we weren't prepared for is there is a 50/50 chance I will loose one or both kidneys, part of the pancreas and the spleen. There is a fair chance I will may loose part of the liver, colon and small intestines. Things were kinda quiet for a few minutes as Denise and I tried to digest what we had just been told. Chemo and radiation would be decided on after surgery. Hospital stay if nothing besides the tumor leaves will be about 5 days and more depending on what goes. Because of the nature of this kind of tumor it will regrow so there will probably be surgery again in 7-8 years and possibly surgery after that at 2- 2 1/2 years and if we get to that point I would have to have surgery every year to remove the new growth. I know what you're thinking...WOW!!

Surgery is scheduled for the 26th or 27th of January. We are going to get a second opinion from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. If they confirm everything and the plan of attack we will have surgery here. If they have different suggestions that sound better we will try for Houston.

This has been an emotional day and it will take a little while for us to process everything but we are ok. No complaints, no why me or this isn't fair. Psalm 119.71 sums it up for me... "It is good for me that I have been afflicted."

Your continued prayers are deeply appreciated and we have absolute confidence that God will work all of this out according to His perfect plan for my life. This will be a hard time and deep valley for our family but with the Lord's help we will come through the other side encouraged and a whole lot skinnier!!

I'll give more updates as things develop. JG

Romance and Sex: delicately discussed

Romance and Sex: delicately discussed

From the writings of Sumner Wemp

Romance and Sex: delicately discussed

Love, Courtship, Romance and Sex is the title of my tape on marriage and the title for this series on marriage. Love leads to courtship, dating, and courtship leads to romance and romance leads to sex. Back in the 1960s a godly medical doctor with an MD degree and a Ph.D. degree, in marriage counseling heard my message on LCRS and said, "That is the best I have ever heard on marriage".

Three kinds of love

Agape love is God's love, unselfish love, Philos love is friendship love, you like someone and they like you, it is a mutual admiration society, Eros is physical love, mostly selfish love or desire, it is human love and includes sex.

Love: there are two vital facts to remember. "You LIKE someone when they make you happy and you LOVE someone when you make them happy."

Courtship, two facts to remember, women need and want ATTENTION and men need and want ADMIRATION.

Romance: there is a P.M. pre-marriage, before marriage side to romance and an A.M. after marriage side to romance, "Romance is the outward physical expressions of love apart from sex before marriage."

Two big time keys to happy marriages/Two things to know about Romance:

"Sight" and "Touch."

Men are aroused to the marriage side of romance by SIGHT and women are aroused by TOUCH.

God says to a man, "Not to look at a woman to lust after her" or you commit adultery in your heart Matt. 5:28. That is why women are told to "dress modestly"

1 Tim . 2:9. God says for a man not to "touch a woman" 1 Cor. 7:1. Men must keep their hands off of women other than their wives. More on this subject will come in future devotionals. Very important. Not understanding the above leads to a lot of problems in marriage and can even lead to divorce. Please share this with friends and family.

Stay with us for one of the biggest clues to miserable marriages and deadly divorce.

Prayer: Father, bless those who are married and courting that are reading this and help us all to understand our companions, meet their needs, and glorify God in our marriages and courtships. In Jesus name. Because Hs loves you, died for your sins, paid the debt in full and rose again. And I love you, pray for YOU and preach to you, all because of Calvary, sumner

God Wants You

Bill Rice Ranch - First Light Devotionals

Psalm 51:16-17  "For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."

Not too long ago, when I drove home from camp, my daughter met me at the door. She was playing "servant," which just means she was making the work she had to do a little more palatable! She had an apron on and was getting a lot of work done, but I was reminded that my wife, in most cases, could do the work more effectively and efficiently. But more important than the work Lauren was doing was the affection and the attitude she was doing it with!

Even in business, a gift is just a gift--it is lifeless. But what a difference it makes when there is love and interest for what you are doing behind the gift! When it comes to spiritual matters, God does not want yours; He wants you. You never give God anything that He didn't provide for you first! You may be hurried, but God will not be pressed by anyone or anything today.

David, the psalmist, wrote in verse 16, "For thou desirest not sacrifice . . . thou delightest not in burnt offering."  Wait a minute! Weren't these people literally sacrificing animals at this time? And weren't they doing it because it was God's idea? Yes, God did desire the sacrifices and burnt offerings, but not in comparison to His desire for the person giving the sacrifice. A sacrifice is nothing short of a sham if it comes from a heart that is not devoted to God.

God does not want what you give-He wants you. He will not be impressed by what you do if He is not "impressed" by what you are. Even something that God has commanded does not please Him if it does not come from a heart of someone who loves Him. Before discipline and duty mean anything, we must have delight in God.

We live in a day when a man has an alibi to live as he wants, as long as he performs. Even in our churches, a person can please and perform for every visible master but not please the God who made him. That kind of service is shallow and downright wicked. You can only maintain that for so long. Even a week of camp at the Ranch takes discipline, but discipline means nothing if there is not devotion and delight behind it. I want to go through life driven by a God who has been better to me than I could ever repay. I want to do what I do in His power, not in some futile attempt that will eventually fizzle out.

Today there will be things you must do that demand discipline and duty because they are right. But duty and discipline mean absolutely nothing without delight in the Lord Jesus. Remember this morning that God wants you.

THE MARINE

THE MARINES WANT THIS TO ROLL ALL OVER THE U.S.

This is a poem being sent from a Marine to his Dad. For those who take the time to read it, you'll see a letter from him to his dad at the bottom. It makes you truly
thankful for not only the Marines, but ALL of our troops.

THE MARINE

We all came together,
Both young and old
To fight for our freedom,
To stand and be bold.

In the midst of all evil,
We stand our ground,
And we protect our country
From all terror around.

Peace and not war,
Is what some people say.
But I'll give my life,
So you can live the American way

I give you the right
To talk of your peace.
To stand in your groups,
and protest in our streets.

But still I fight on,
I don't fuss, I don't whine.
I'm just one of the people!
Who is doing your time.

I'm harder than nails,
Stronger than any machine.
I'm the immortal soldier,
I'm a U.S. MARINE!

So stand in my shoes,
And leave from your home.
Fight for the people who hate you,
With the protests they've shown.
Fight for the stranger,
Fight for the young.
So they all may have,
The greatest freedom you've won

Fight for the sick,
Fight for the poor
Fight for the cripple,
Who lives next door.

But when your time comes,
Do what I've done.
For if you stand up for freedom,
You'll stand when the fight's done

Hey Dad,
Do me a favor and label this "The Marine" and send it to everybody on your email
list. Even leave this letter in it. I want this rolling all over the US; I
want every home reading it. Every eye seeing it. And every heart to feel it. So
can you please send this for me? I would but my email time isn't that long and I
don't have much time anyway.
You know what Dad? I wondered what it would be like to truly understand what JFK said in His inaugural speech. "When the time comes to lay down my life for my
country, I do not cower from this responsibility. I welcome it." Well, now I know. And I do. Dad, I welcome the opportunity to do what I do. Even though I have left behind a beautiful wife, and I will miss the birth of our first born child, I would do it 70 times over to fight for the place that God has made for my home. I love you all and I miss you very much. I wish I could be there when Sandi has our baby, but tell her that I love her, and Lord willing, I will be coming home soon. Give Mom a great big hug from me and give one to yourself too.

Remember the day you got saved-all the days of your life

by Sumner Wemp

"Learn to learn." Someone said, there are two kinds of people. Those who learn from their past and those who don't. Please learn from your past.

"Remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life" Deut. 16:3. They were to never forget the day they came out of bondage.God said, "Don't you forget it "ALL" the days of your life. The parallel is for us to remember the day we got saved, we came out of bondage to sin and Satan. For well over 20 years, I daily, remember that day I was saved as I enter into His gates with thanksgiving.in my prayer time. I remember when I was so under conviction and the pastor told me how God loved me and His son suffered and died for my sins, paid my debt in full, was buried, rose again and I needed to trust that to get me to heaven and receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior.

As I started down the aisle to confess Christ as my Savior, the church burst into tears. I did not know the whole church had been praying for three weeks to get saved. Half of the choir had to sit down they were crying so hard with joy that I was coming to confess Christ as my Savior. I remember that day, DAILY. My whole life was transformed and I have not gotten over it yet and get the same joy of my salvation afresh every day. What a way to start the day. Do it dear Christian and you will keep that first love and joy of your salvation. Thank Him again right now and start the new year with JOY unspeakable.

I LOVE YOU and want you to keep that joy fresh in your heart. ABC Sumner. I would love to hear how and when you got saved. Write me at sumner@sumnerwemp.com

YOU KILLED MY FATHER- PREPARE TO DIE!

II SAM. 21:15-22

Adapted from Johnny Pope by Pastor Rick Jackson

I. LESSONS FROM DAVID [v. 15]

1. The Battle is Ongoing [Eph. 6:10-18]

2. The Spirit is Willing [Matthew 26:41]

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

3. The Flesh is Weak [Rm. 7:14-25]

II. LESSONS FROM ISHBIBENOB [v. 16]

Understand the picture- David is an older man now. He learned his lesson about NOT going to war. He goes to war and during the battle he turns to see a massive man who could easily have said to him, "My name is Ishbi-benob. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

1. The Enemy is Strong [Matthew 12:28-29]

But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

2. The Enemy is Prepared [Ephesians 6:11]

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

3. The Enemy is Motivated [1 Peter 5:8]

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

III. THE LESSONS FROM ABISHAI [v. 17-22]

1. The Lord Provides Our Help [v. 17]

Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
2 Chronicles 14:11 And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.

2. The Lord Prioritizes Our Place [v. 17]

Acts 6:2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

3. The Lord Provides Our Purpose [v. 18-22]

1 Samuel 17:29 And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?
John 12:27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
John 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
Titus 1:5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

QUESTION OF THE WEEK - Is it time for a new Reformation?

Q: Is it time for a new Reformation?

A: Whether it’s liberalism, evolutionism, Gnosticism, Mormonism, Islam, New Age, moral issues (e.g., abortion and gay marriage), or the age of the earth, these are all ultimately battles over the same issue.

From the beginning, the battle was over the authority of the Word of God. The first woman, Eve, followed by her husband, Adam, gave in to the temptation not to take God at His Word. Instead, they relied on their human reason to determine truth.

Because Adam was the head of the human race, his rebellion plunged the entire human race into sin. All his descendants inherited a sin nature that refused to take God at His Word and instead made human reason their supreme authority.

January 1 - The New Man

Days of Praise
The New Man

January 1, 2010

"Put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." (Ephesians 4:24)

When Jesus spoke with Nicodemus, He insisted that no one would ever see the Kingdom of God unless he was "born again" (John 3:3). The Greek phrase used by the Lord, gennethe anothen, literally is "born from above."

Peter used a different word, anagennao, which stressed the need for a second birth: "Not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever" (1 Peter 1:23). This "new creature" (2 Corinthians 5:17) requires a supernatural work that changes death to life (John 5:24)--literally, "having departed out of death into life."

Although that supernatural change does not produce a new body now, it does contain a pledge of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 5:5) that our mortality will be "swallowed up in life" (2 Corinthians 5:4). It is promised that "we shall all be changed . . . . For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality" (1 Corinthians 15:51-53). That event is yet future. What about now?

Now, we can "reign in life" (Romans 5:17). Now, we are empowered to participate in the "divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world" (2 Peter 1:4). Now, today in this life, "we are more than conquerors through him that loved us" (Romans 8:37). Our heavenly Father, having determined that we are "to be conformed to the image of his Son" (Romans 8:29), has made our bodies the "temple" of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), and had granted us access to the same power that raised Christ Jesus from the dead (Ephesians 1:20).

Rejoice! Our New Man has been given sufficient supernatural resources for "all things that pertain unto life and godliness" (2 Peter 1:3). HMM III
