HEBREWS 10:38-11:3

I. ONLY BY FAITH CAN BELIEVERS PLEASE GOD [10:38, 11:6]

1. Unbelief Calls God a Liar [10:38, Rm. 3:4, 1 Jn. 1:10]

…let God be true, but every man a liar;

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

2. Faith Takes God at His Word [10:39, Rm. 10:17, 3:4]

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

3. Faith Earns a Good Report from God [11:2]

II. ONLY BY FAITH ARE WE SAVED [10:39]

1. Unbelief Draws Back from God & His Salvation [10:39]

2. Unbelief Draws Back to Perdition & Destruction [10:39, Phil. 3:19, 1 Tm. 6:9]

Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

3. Faith Accesses Christ's Work & God's Gift for Our Good & His Glory [Eph. 2:8-9]

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

III. ONLY BY FAITH CAN WE SEE THE UNSEEABLE [11:1-3]

1. The Unseeable Future [v. 1-2]

2. The Unseeable Past [v. 3]

3. The Unseeable God [v. 3, 27]
