The Bible says, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine." That is literally true. You have better digestion. That is why you ought to be thankful at a meal. The Bible says, "For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer" (1 Tim. 4:5). You ought to be thankful, knowing God is going to bless it and it will be good for your body. It is foolish to be occupied with the health food store material, and unsaturated fats, and no cholesterol, and only so many calories, and sunflower seed, etc. I don't mind your having sunflower seed and drinking carrot juice; I mind your being too much bothered about it.- John R. Rice
A Christian ought not to fret, "Oh, what is going to happen to me!" What will happen to me will be good. A song they sing on some of the programs is, "Something good is going to happen to you." A Christian ought not to worry. Everything is going to turn out good for you. How often that is said in the Bible! - John R. Rice
A Christian can be happy if he is in the will of God. Whatever he ought to have, God can give it. What God does is good. - John R. Rice
We deserve nothing good from God. No one does. It would have served us right for Him to let us all go to Hell.
But, thanks be to God, my salvation is not depending upon my works. I did not deserve salvation when I got it, and I have never deserved it any thirty seconds since that time! Salvation is all of grace. - John R. Rice
You city slickers would not know about it, but there is something especially sweet about a mother hen taking care of the little chickens. If there is just a shadow of a hawk flying over, she clucks and they run and get under Mamma's wings. If it rains, they get under there and the rain falls on her, not on the little chickens. They cheep, cheep, cheep-comforted under there.
Now, a Christian is to hide under His wings, under His feathers. Jesus said to Jerusalem, how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!" Protection. - John R. Rice
It is a wonderful thing that God has guardian angels about a Christian so that whether he knows there is danger or not, the Lord has already settled it. He is then abiding in the habitation of the Lord and the Lord takes care of him all the time. - John R. Rice
Wouldn't it be good today to just think: Whether I know it or not, an angel is looking after me! Oh, there is danger! I may not know about the danger, but the angel of God does. The Bible says about little children, "Their angels do always behold the face of my Father." Guardian angels of little children are busy all the time. Little children don't go and beg the Lord, "Lord, look after me today." They would get their necks broken if they didn't have an angel looking after them. It is surprising that children ever get grown, with no more sense than they have. But it is not surprising if the Lord is looking after them. - John R. Rice
