I. THE
DEVIL’S DIRTY WORK

And always,
night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting
himself with stones.
II. THE
SAVIOUR’S SUFFICIENT WORK
1. Destroy the Works of the Devil [v. 30-34, 1
John 3:8]
For this
purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the
devil.
2. Deliver
the Captives of the Devil [v. 35-36, 4:18]
The Spirit
of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the
poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the
captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are
bruised,

III. THE
CHRISTIAN’S CAREFUL WORK
1. Reflect
the Saviour [v. 35, Philippians 2:5, 1 Peter 2:21
-Let this
mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
- For even
hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an
example, that ye should follow his steps:
2. Reverence
the Saviour [v. 35-38, Hebrews 12:28]
Wherefore we
receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may
serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
3. Represent
the Saviour [v. 38b-39, 36-37, Mk. 7:31, 37, 2 Corinthians 5:17]
- And again,
departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee,
through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
-And were
beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both
the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
- Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.
