I. PAY ATTENTION [v. 20-22]
1. Really, Really Listen to the Spoken Word of God [v. 20]
2. Really, Really Focus on the Written Word of God [v. 21a]
3. Really, Really Center on the Living Word of God [v.
21b-22]
II. PROTECT ALWAYS [v. 23]
1. Guard Your Heart [to guard, in a good sense to protect,
maintain, obey, etc.]
2. Guard Your Heart Diligently [an example
(concr.):--diligence, guard, office, prison, ward, watch.
3. Guard It for What It Does [Luke 6:45]
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth
forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart
bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth
speaketh.
III. PRACTICE APPLICATION [v. 24-27]
1. Lose the Bad Mouth [v. 24]
2. Look the Right Way [v. 25, Luke 9:62]
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the
plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of
our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising
the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3. Walk the Line [v. 26-27, Jude 1:21]
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of
our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
