NEW TESTAMENT ADVENTURES OF OLD TESTAMENT HEROES #3
Pastor Rick Jackson
I. THE TRANSFIGURATION [Mark 9]
1. The Companions of Glory [v. 1-4]
2. The Christ of Glory [v. 5-8]
3. The Cross of Glory [Lk. 9:30-31, Galatians 6:14]
And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses
and Elias: Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should
accomplish at Jerusalem.
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our
Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the
world.
II. THE SUBSTITUTION [Mk. 6, 8, 9]
1. The Company of Saints & the Saviour [Mk. 6:15,
8:27-28]
2. The Conditions of Substitution [Mk. 9:9-13, Lk. 1:13-17,
Mt. 17:11-13]
But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy
prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt
call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall
rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall
drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy
Ghost, even from his mother's womb. And many of the children of Israel shall he
turn to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power
of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the
disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the
Lord.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall
first come, and restore all things. But I say unto you, That Elias is come
already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed.
Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Then the disciples
understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
3. The Coming of Saviour’s Servants [Mk. 9:12]
III. THE TRIBULATION [Rev. 11]
1. The Witness for Jesus [v. 1-3, 1:1]
2. The Power from Jesus [v. 3-6, Acts 1:7-11]
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times
or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is
come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all
Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he
had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud
received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven
as he went up , behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also
said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus,
which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have
seen him go into heaven.
3. The Ascension to Jesus [v. 7-12]
