IT AIN’T OVER ‘TIL IT’S OVER

LUKE 1:26-37

Pastor Rick Jackson

“Yankees legend Yogi Berra, was an 18-time All-Star, appeared in 14 World Series as a member of the Yankees and won 10 of them. Berra’s contributions to MLB history are incalculable, but his legacy might be even better remembered for what he contributed to American language. A sportswriters’ favorite, Berra had countless expressions and turns of phrase that were memorable because most of them didn’t make any sense. (At the same time, every one had some truth to it.) Here are some favorites.:
1. When you come to a fork in the road, take it.
2. No one goes there nowadays, it’s too crowded.
3. I’m not going to buy my kids an encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did.
4. It’s like déjà vu all over again.
5. If the people don’t want to come out to the ballpark, nobody’s going to stop them.
6. Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical.
7. A nickel ain’t worth a dime anymore.
8. Always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise they won’t come to yours.
9. I never said most of the things I said.
10. It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.

I. THE PROPHECIES FULFILLED [v. 31-32]

1. The Virgin Birth of Jesus [v. 31, 2:6-7, 11-12, 21]

2. He Shall be “Great” [v. 32]

Matthew 4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
Luke 7:16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant

3. Son of the Highest [v. 32, 35, 4:41, 8:28]
II. THE PROPHECIES UNFULFILLED [v. 32-33]

1. “the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David [v. 32]

2. “And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever” [v. 33]

3. “and of his kingdom there shall be no end” [v. 33]

III. THE FULFILLMENT?

1. Forsaken [Romans 9-11]

2. Failed [Isaiah 34:16]

Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

3. Future [Rev. 22: 16-21]

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

My friends, brothers & sisters, believers or unbelievers… IT AIN’T OVER ‘TIL IT’S OVER!
