OH HOLY NIGHT

LUKE 1:35

Pastor Rick Jackson

There is a marked lack of reverence concerning Christmas but it is nothing new. Even an old film like “It’s a Wonderful Life” shows characters drinking to celebrate the Holy One of Israel’s birth- not quite the standard Heaven holds and expects citizens of Heaven whilst they sojourn on Earth to do likewise. So, what is so Holy about Christmas?

I. THE HOLY PLAN

1. Conceived by the Thrice Holy LORD [Is. 6:1-4, Revelation 4:8]

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

2. Communicated by the Holy Scriptures [Rm. 1:1-4, II Timothy 3:15]

3. Carried Out by the Holy Jesus [Acts 4:24-31]

II. THE HOLY PERSON

1. Conceived by the Holy Ghost [Luke 1:35]

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

2. Corruption Could Not Touch Him [Acts 2:22-32]

3. Completion of His Mission Will Be Fulfilled [Is. 41:14, Titus 2:11-15]

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

III. THE HOLY PURPOSE

1. Fulfill Scripture [Lk. 1:67-79]

2. Procure Salvation For All [Is. 49:5-8, Lk. 2:32, II Cor. 6:2]

3. To Make a Holy People [I Peter 2:5, 9; Rev. 20:6]
