ENJOY THE GOOD LIFE

PROVERBS 3:1-6

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. ENJOY GOD'S DURATION [v. 1-2]

1. He is the Key to Living an Approved Life [Deuteronomy 30:20]

That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

2. He is the Key to Living the Abundant Life [John 10:10]

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Psalm 31:10 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.

Psalm 65:11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.

Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

3. He is the Key to Living a Peaceful Life [Psalm 119:165]

Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

28:3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.

29:11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

35:20 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.

37:11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

37:37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

II. ENJOY GOD'S DEMONSTRATION [v. 3-4]

1. Demonstrate Christlikeness [v. 3, 1 Peter 2:21]

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

2. Demonstrate a God-approved Life [v. 4, Eph. 5:10] Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

3. Demonstrate a Man-approved Life (in general) [v. 4, Proverbs 16:7]

When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

III. ENJOY GOD'S DIRECTION [v. 5-6]

1. Trust God with All Your Heart & Mind [v. 5]

2. Acknowledge God in All Your Ways [v. 6a]

3. Follow God's Directions All Your Days [v. 6b]
