A “favorite son,” according to the dictionary is “a famous person, especially a politician, who is supported and praised by people in the area they come from.” Christmas is a heavenly concept, a heavenly construct and a heavenly covenant. Christ is the heart of Christmas and therefore is Christmas’s Favorite Son. Let’s examine Christma’s Favorite Son in light of the Gospel of Luke.

I. JESUS, CHRISTMAS'S FAVORITE SON IS THE SON OF MARY

 

1. The Announcement to Mary [v. 26-33] – freely given

 

2. The Acceptance by Mary [v. 34-38] – freely accepted

 

3. The Actions of Mary [v. 39-43] – freely shared

 

II. JESUS, CHRISTMAS'S FAVORITE SON IS THE SON OF DAVID

 

1. Destined to sit on David’s Throne [v. 32]

 

2. Destined to rule Jacob’s People [v. 33]

 

He is the King of the Jews specifically – not the Arabs, Gentiles, etc. [He is also King of Kings]

 

3. Destined to Reign Forever [v. 33]

 

III. JESUS, CHRISTMAS'S FAVORITE SON IS THE SON OF GOD

 

1. The Great Son of the Highest [v. 32]

 

2. The Holy Son of God [v. 35]

 

3. The Lord and Saviour [v. 38-56]
