TRUE RICHES

LUKE 16:10-14

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. THE POWER OF GOD’S TRUE RICHES [v. 11]

1. The Riches of His Goodness [Rm. 2:1-12, 3:23, 5:8, 9:10-13]

2. The Riches of His Grace [Eph. 1:7, 6, 2:8-9, 3:7-8, 4:7, 6:24]

3. The Riches of His Glory [Rm. 9:22-24, Eph. 1:18, 3:16, Phil. 4:19, Col. 1:27]

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

II. THE PROVISION OF GOD’S TRUE RICHES

1. Unsearchable [Rm. 11:33-36, Eph. 3:8]

O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

2. Comforting [Col. 2:1-2ff]

For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

3. Greater [Heb. 11:26]

Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.

III. THE PROBLEM WITH “OTHER RICHES

1. They are Deceitful [Mark 4:19]

And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

2. They are Damning [Mark 10:24]

And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

3. They Disintegrate [Matthew 6:19-20, Revelation 18:17]

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For in one hour so great riches is come to nought.

4. They are Uncertain [1 Tm. 6:17]

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
