Bessie

In December of 2002 we rescued Bessie from an animal shelter. She would be our little dog which seems funny since she was 90-95 pounds of pure muscle. But considering our big dog was Greystoke, a 150 pound Great Dane it is still true. The two of them hit it off immediately and her favorite trick was hiding in the bushes until he would walk by at which point she'd jump out to greet him. When Greystoke passed on she became the big dog as we gained Jada. This time Bessie was the boss but they got along fine.

I always fear getting a new dog because I know how easily I bond with them. Bessie was certainly no exception. Since we got her at a shelter we didn't really know her age but she was at least 2 according to the vet making her at least 11 now. She had been ill on and off the last year and today she passed away at home. She will be missed.
