CHRIST OUR PASSOVER

EXODUS 12

Pastor Rick Jackson

1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

The passover is a defining moment in Israel's history. It marked the beginning of a new calendar for them, it set the tone for them as a nation, it points back to a milestone and forward to the Rock of Ages, the Lord Jesus Christ. For the Passover to mean something significant in our lives we learn several truths in Exodus 12.

I. IT HAS TO BE PERSONAL [v. 1-13]

1. Its Association [v. 1-5]

2. Its Application [v. 5-7]

3. Its Assurance [v. 8-13] "when I see the blood"

II. IT HAS TO BE PERMANENT [v. 14-27]

1. Picture of Sanctification [v. 14-20]

2. Picture of Salvation [v. 21-24]

3. Picture of Instruction [v. 25-27]

III. IT HAS TO BE POWERFUL [v. 28-51]

1. To overcome the wages of sin [v. 28-30]

2. To overcome the course of the world [v. 31-41]

3. To overcome the tendencies of the flesh [v. 42-51]
