We all face criticism at one time or another... and another and another, etc.
What do we do with criticism? What if its constructive criticism? What if its true? What do we do with criticism?
I. EVALUATE
1. Consider the source! (Jn. 12:1-8)Dr. Lee Roberson has some excellent thoughts concerning people who criticize. He says, "Critics are a dime a dozen. Any fool can criticize!" A while back someone criticized me for not preaching on a certain subject to another member. This was related to me and interestingly enough I had preached on the subject in question even shortly before they made the comment, but since this person only came to church on Sunday mornings they had no clue to what was being preached two-thirds of the time!
2. Consider the seriousness! (Gal. 2:11-14) Paul had to criticize Peter's actions. Some criticized Moody's lack of education saying he butchered the king's English. This is true but not serious enough to warrant the criticism.
3. Consider the Scriptures! (Gal. 1:10, Acts 4:19)
II. EVICT
1. Do away with Vengeance (Rm. 12:18-21)
2. Do away with Vanity (I Co. 15:31, Jn. 12:24) No pity parties allowed!
3. Do away with Values of the world (Jm. 3:13-4:10)
III. INVOLVE
1. The Saviour in prayer (Acts 9:6, Lk. 22:42)
2. The Spirit in submission (Gal. 5:16-26)
3. The Scriptures in preparation (Acts 17:11)
