“THE FAITH” IS IMPORTANT

1 TIMOTHY 4:1 – the Exclusiveness of The Faith

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

1 TIMOTHY 5:8 – the Enemies of The Faith

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

1 TIMOTHY 6:10-the Erring from The Faith

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

We are not talking “a faith” we are talking “the faith.”

 

I. “THE FAITH”  IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT DEALS WITH THE PERSON OF CHRIST [2 JOHN]

1. Do Not Partake with Deceivers [v. 7-8]

2. Do Not Pursue their Doctrines [v. 9, 1 Tm. 4:1]

3. Do Not Promote their Deeds [v. 10-11]

II. “THE FAITH”  IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT DEALS WITH THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST [1 COR. 15]

1. Christ’s Work is Important [v. 1-3, Rm. 1:16]

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

2. Christ’s Word is Important [v. 3b-4]

3. Christ’s Witness is Important [v. 5-11]

III. “THE FAITH”  IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT DEALS WITH THE PEOPLE OF CHRIST

1. The People of Christ are to Continue in The Faith Always [Acts 14:22, Phil. 1:27, Col. 1:23]

- Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

- Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

- If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

2. The People of Christ are to Communicate The Faith Accurately [Gal. 1:23]

But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

3. The People of Christ are to Contend for The Faith Earnestly [Jude 3]

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
