MARK 4:36-41

I. SOME
WILL TANK BECAUSE OF THE STORM
1. Some Tank
Because They Ignore the Warnings [1 Pt. 3:18, 2 Peter 2:5]
- For Christ
also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring
us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By
which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were
disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah,
while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by
water.
-And spared
not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of
righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
2. Some Tank
Because They Take Their Eyes Off the Lord [Mt. 14: 27-30]
But
straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not
afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto
thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the
ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind
boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save
me.
3. Some Tank
Because They Are Running from the Lord [Jonah 1:10-12]
Then were
the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the
men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them.
Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm
unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. And he said unto them, Take
me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I
know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.
II. SOME
WILL THINK BECAUSE OF THE STORM
1. Some Lost
Will Think of the One True God [Psalm 83:15-18]
So persecute
them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. Fill their faces
with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD. Let them be confounded and
troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: That men may know
that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
2. Some
Believers Will Think of God’s Power [Ps. 107:22-29, Mark 4:35-41]
-They that
go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the
works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. For he commandeth, and raiseth
the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. They mount up to the
heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of
trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their
wit's end. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them
out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof
are still.
- And the
same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the
other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he
was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there
arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was
now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and
they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And
he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the
wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so
fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly , and
said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea
obey him?
3. Some
Saved Will Think of the Lord and His Word [Luke 8:22-25]
Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he
went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto
the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. But as they sailed he fell
asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled
with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him, saying,
Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging
of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them,
Where is your faith?
III. SOME
WILL THANK BECAUSE OF THE STORM
1. Some
Thank the Lord by Trusting Him as Saviour [Ps. 116:12-17, Jonah 1:13-17]
- What shall
I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of
salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD. I will pay my vows unto the LORD
now in the presence of all his people. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the
death of his saints. O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the
son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds. I will offer to thee the
sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
-Nevertheless
the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea
wrought, and was tempestuous against them. Wherefore they cried unto the LORD,
and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this
man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as
it pleased thee. So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and
the sea ceased from her raging. Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly , and
offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.
2. Some
Thank the Lord for Revealing His Power on Their Behalf [Ps. 107:29-31, Mt. 14: 31-33]
- He maketh
the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad
because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Oh that
men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the
children of men!
-And
immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him,
O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come
into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and
worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
3. Some Thank
the Lord That He Works for Our Good [Rm. 8:28-31, 1 Th. 5:18]
- And we
know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who
are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did
predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the
firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also
called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them
he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us,
who can be against us?
- In every
thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
