As Peter draws this epistle to a close the real author of all Scripture, the Holy Spirit, has some exhortations to Peter’s audience- including those of us in 2023.

 

I. EXHORTATION TO GOD’S PREACHERS [v. 1-4]

 

1. Feed the Flock [v. 1-2]

2. Maintain the Mind of Christ [v. 2-3]

3. Seek the Saviour’s Satisfaction [v. 4]

 

II. EXHORTATION TO GOD’S PEOPLE [v. 5-9]

 

1. Humble Yourself [v. 5]

2. Cast Your Care on Christ [v. 6]

3. Be Prepared for Battle [v. 7-9]

 

III. EXAMINE GOD’S PLAN FOR THE FUTURE [v. 10-11]

 

1. Your Good [v. 10]

2. His Glory [v. 11]

 

IV. EXAMINE GOD’S PLAN FOR THE PRESENT [v. 12-14]

 

1. Faithfully Represent the Lord [v. 12]

2. Fellowship with the Saints [v. 13-14a]

3. Fellowship with the Saviour [v. 14, 1 John 1:5-7]

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
