2 TIMOTHY 4
Pastor Rick Jackson
I. THE WORK THAT COUNTS [v. 1-8]
1. Jesus is The Judge [v. 1, John 5:22, Romans 2:16, 14:10]
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all
judgment unto the Son:
In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus
Christ according to my gospel.
But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at
nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
2. Do the “Work”- Leave the Results to God [v. 2-5, 1
Corinthians 4:5]
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord
come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make
manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of
God.
3. Let Love for Christ Be Your Motivation [v. 6-8, 2
Corinthians 5:14, 1 Cor. 13]
For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus
judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
II. THE NEEDS OF THE PRESENT [v. 9-13]
1. People [v. 9-12]
2. Provisions [v. 13a]
3. Parchments [v. 13] The Bible
III. LET GOD DEAL WITH IT [v. 14-18] after you have
done what you should do
1. Bad People [v. 14-15, Romans 12:18-19]
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably
with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto
wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
2. Weak People [v. 16, 1 Thessalonians 5:14]
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly,
comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
3. Myself [v. 17-18, Philippians 3:20-21]
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look
for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it
may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby
he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
