THE GOSPEL CHRIST YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER

LUKE 2:26, ROMANS 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

I. JESUS AT EIGHT DAYS OLD [v. 21]

1. Made of a Woman [Galatians 4:4]

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman…

2. Made Under the Law [Galatians 4:4]

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

3. Made For a Purpose [v. 31, Galatians 4:5]

To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

II. JESUS AT FORTY DAYS OLD [v. 22-38]

1. The Poorest of Families [v. 22-24, Lev. 12:6-8] -proves the wise men were not at the stable

2. The Proclamation of Simeon [v. 23-35]

3. The Praise of Anna [v. 36-38]

III. JESUS AT TWELVE YEARS OLD [v. 39-52]

1. The Moving Jesus [v. 39-41]

Luke relates no more concerning them, till they were returned into Galilee; but it appears by St. Matthew’s gospel (chapter 2) that from Jerusalem they returned to Bethlehem, and there they continued till they were directed to flee into Egypt, and, returning thence when Herod was dead, they were directed to go to their old quarters in Nazareth. It is here called their own city. - Matthew Henry

2. The Missing Jesus [v. 42-50]

3. The Submissive Jesus [v. 51-52]

If ever a child was misunderstood…

If ever a child knew more than those raising Him…

If ever a child already had His life planned out for Him…
