PSALM 56
Pastor Rick
Jackson
I was
talking to a man the other day and he was telling me about bad experiences
outside the USA. Now I realize, as an accident-prone person, bad things can
happen to you anywhere but he made a convincing argument for staying in our
borders. You may feel safer in your home country, in your home state, in your
hometown, in your home, in your bed but things can happen anywhere, anytime, to
anyone. The only sure place to be is “In God”. In Him, nothing can happen to
you that He is not aware of and that He did not at the very least “allow” it
for your good and His glory.
I. IN
CONTRAST [v. 1-3]
1. Man
Oppresses, God Blesses [v. 1]
2. Man is
Low-Down, God is “on High” [v. 2, Psalm 102:19]
For he hath
looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold
the earth;
3. Man is a
Contradiction, God is Constant [v. 3, Heb. 9:28, James 1:17]
II. IN
GOD [v. 4-6]
1. I’ll
Praise His Word [v. 4]
2. I Have
Put My Trust [v. 4]
3. I Won’t
Fear “In God” [v. 4-6, Is. 26:3, Heb. 12:2]
III. IN
CONCLUSION [v. 7-13]
1. God is
For Me [v. 7-9, Romans 8:31]
What shall
we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
2. I Am In
God [v. 10-11, Romans 12:5]
So we, being
many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
3. I Will
Live for God [v. 12-13, Philippians 1:21]
For to me to
live is Christ, and to die is gain.
