ACTS 9:1-6, 1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Pastor Rick Jackson
I. FOLLOW PAUL IN HIS CONVERSION [v. 6] the single
greatest experience that will ever happen to a person
1. For Paul His Conversion Brought About Change [1 Tm.
1:12-16, 2 Corinthians 5:17]
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for
that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; Who was before a
blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I
did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant
with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and
worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save
sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in
me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them
which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old
things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2. For Paul His Conversion Brought About Confidence [2
Tm. 1:12-14, Rm. 1:16]
I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am
persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against
that day. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in
faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed
unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and
also to the Greek.
3. For Paul His Conversion Brought About Continuance
[Acts 26:22-23]
Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto
this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than
those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should
suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and
should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles
II. FOLLOW PAUL IN
HIS CONSECRATION [v. 6] Paul sold out to God
1. Paul’s Consecration was Reflected in His Call [Acts
26:9-18, 1 Thessalonians 4:3]
Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and
commission from the chief priests, At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light
from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them
which journeyed with me. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a
voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why
persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And I
said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But
rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose,
to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast
seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee
from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open
their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of
Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance
among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that
ye should abstain from fornication:
Know God’s will for your life- over 90% of which is found in
His Word!
2. Paul’s Consecration was Reflected in His Compliance
[Acts 26:19-22]
Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the
heavenly vision: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and
throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should
repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. For these causes the
Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.
3. Paul’s Consecration was Reflected in His Control [Galatians
2:20]
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I,
but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by
the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
III. FOLLOW PAUL IN HIS CONCERN
1. For Himself [1 Cor. 9:24-27]
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one
receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth
for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a
corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as
uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my
body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached
to others, I myself should be a castaway.
2. For His God [Phil. 3:10]
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and
the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
2 Timothy 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with
the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a
soldier
2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day:
and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
3. For Others [Rm. 10:1, Philippians 4:1]
Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is,
that they might be saved.
Therefore, my brethren, dearly beloved and longed for, my
joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.
