THE NATURAL MAN, THE CARNAL MAN, AND THE SPIRITUAL MAN

2 KINGS 3,  1 Corinthians 2:14

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

I. THE SORRY STATE OF SPIRITUALITY

1. A Poor Reputation “Not as bad” [v. 1-3]

2. A Rich Opportunity “Carpe Diem” [v. 4-5]

3. Another Unequal Yoke [v. 6-9, 1 Kings 22, 2 Chr. 19:2, 2 Cor. 6:14-18]

-And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord.

-Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

II. THE SHADOW OF GRACE

1. The Lame Blame Game [v. 10]

2. Better Late than Never [v. 11-12] “God is merciful, or He could use no one.” – J.R.R.

3.  The Overflowing Benefits [v. 13-20]

III. THE EVIDENCE

1. The Evidence of Providence [v. 20]

2. The Evidence of Ignorance [v. 21-24]

3. The Evidence of Reprobation [v. 25-27, Romans 1:28-32]

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
