DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE ALMIGHTY

Job 40:1-5, Revelation 19:15

Pastor Rick Jackson

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

I. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE GOD ALMIGHTY

1. Don’t Underestimate His Holiness [Psalms 47:8, Heb. 12:14]

-God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.

- Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

2. Don’t Underestimate His Love [John 3:16, Romans 5:8]

-For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

-But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

3. Don’t Underestimate His Power [Isaiah 59:1, Jeremiah 32:17, Mt. 28:18]

-Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

-Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

-And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

II. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE GOD ALMIGHTY’S WORD

1. The Bible has Power to Convict [Psalm 73:21, Acts 2:37]

-Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.

-Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

ILLUSTRATION – Gen. 5 “and he died” 8 times

2. The Bible has Power to Convince [Jeremiah 23:29, Jude 15]

-Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

-To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

ILLUSTRATION –Ecclesiastes “Meaningless, meaningless, all is meaningless” “Life without God has no meaning”

3. The Bible has Power to Convert [Ps. 19:7]

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

III. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE GOD ALMIGHTY’S SALVATION

1. God has Power to Save [Eph. 2:8-9]

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

2. God has Power to Secure [Hebrews 7:25]

-Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

3. God has Power to Spare [1 John 2:2, Hebrews 4:2]

-And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

-For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
