II. THE SAVIOUR’S SUFFICIENT WORK

 

1.  Destroy the Works of the Devil [v. 30-34,

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

 

2. Deliver the Captives of the Devil [v. 35-36, 4:18]

 

3.  Commission the Children of God [v. 38-39]

 

III. THE CHRISTIAN’S CAREFUL WORK

 

1. Reflect the Saviour [v. 35, John 14:27, Romans 12:3, 2 Corinthians 5:13]

 

2. Reverence the Saviour [v. 35-38]

Hebrews 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

 

3. Represent the Saviour [v. 38b-39, 36-37 cp.  Mk. 5:19-20, 7:31-37, 2 Corinthians 5:20]
