I. DON’T OVERSHOOT THE OBVIOUS

1. They Were Filled- Not Indwelt [v. 1-4a, John 20:21-22]

“One indwelling, many fillings” 4:8, 4:31

2. They Were Speaking in Known Languages [v. 4b-11]

3. They Were Preaching the Word of God [v. 12-36, 4:31]

II. DON’T OVER-EMPHASIZE THE ODDITIES

1. Speaking in Languages Was a Means to an End [v. 37, Mark 16:15]

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

2. Salvation of Souls Was the Emphasis [v. 38-41, Rm. 1:16]

3. The Church (already in existence before that day) was Added to [v. 42-47]

III. DON’T OVERLOOK THE OCCASION

1. A Great Translation- 400 years ago tomorrow the KJV went on sale for the first time

2. A Great Tradition- 400 years of blessed revivals, Great Awakenings, and personal growth

3. A Great Tragedy- many a copy owned is never utilized-

never read, never used in leading others to Christ, never opened in family devotions
