QUESTION OF THE WEEK! - What news mattered in 2008?

A: Believe it or not, yet another year has come and gone—and believe it or not, the creation/evolution controversy, and along with it the controversy between Christianity and humanism, have yet to be settled!

For the third year in a row (see 2007 and 2006), we’re finishing up the year by recapping the news stories and recurring themes that made headlines in the debate over origins, whether the topics were out among the stars, here on planet earth, or in the culture.

Thank you for your column. Thank you for your originality, insights, candor and keeping us all informed.

In the end...God will always have the last word no matter what the issue.

As far as the church, the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

As far as individuals, we're our own worst enemy; the devil didn't make me do it.

Certainly we need a prosperity of kindness, gentleness, truth and commitment to doing the right thing, no matter what we do or don't derive as far as personal benefits.

In the end: 1-Desire; 2-Motivation and 3-Willingness to pay the price will determine where we go as people, couples, families, corporations, a nation, churches or whatever entity we align ourselves with.

We all need to examine our motives and look at like very simply and say, "What does every human being need? What must we have instead of, "Am I getting what I want and feel I deserve and am entitles to."

Just a bit of food for thought as we go into 2009.
