Memorial Day Musing

What can we say to those who have given their lives that we might be free? To many Memorial Day is just a day off from work. It's more than that. We're free... but this freedom wasn't and isn't free. It was paid for by those who made the ultimate sacrifice. I know of a local family whose son in his 20s was killed because another driver went to sleep at the wheel. That's a tragedy and a waste. Other families are sorrowing because their son died fighting for freedom. That may be a tragedy but it's not a waste, it was a sacrifice.

What can we say? Thank you doesn't begin to say what we need to say. Perhaps if we take that freedom and glorify God with our lives we might begin to utilize the freedom their blood bought for us as well as glorify the One whose blood bought us and another kind of freedom, The Lord Jesus Christ!

From our newest link:

On this date in 1796-United States banned prison terms for debtors. 2000 years ago God banned hell for debtors. Jesus suffered and died for all our sins, paid the debt in full. People don't go to hell because they sinned for Christ has paid the penalty of sin but because they "believe not on me" (Jn 3:36) and believe in themselves that what they do will get them to heaven. Matt 7:22, 23. Love you, ABC Sumner and Celeste
