WHO, WHAT AND HOW

HEBREWS 7:22-28

I. HE [7:25]

Verse 22 tells us this is Jesus. Some may not know who Jesus really is. They may have an idea but not a clear grasp of the depth of this, the greatest individual who ever lived, and ever liveth! The Bible is His Story (HISTORY) but we don't have time to read the whole Bible this morning. But we can see that Jesus is-

1. Honoured by the Father [Hebrews 1:1-13]

John 8:54-55 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.

2. Bolstered by His works [Hebrews 10:4-14]

John 10:37-38 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

3. Proven by His resurrection [Hebrews 10:12-20, 13:20]

Romans 1:1-4 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

II. is ABLE also to SAVE them to the uttermost [Hebrews 7:25]

1. He can do what others cannot

2. He delivers us from our sin

3. He does it by One offering and makes it everlastingly valid

Hebrews 1:3; 2:9, 14-18; 4:14-15; 6:19-20; 7:19-28; 9:11-16, 22-26; 10:4, 10-14, 17-20; 12:2, 24; 13:8, 12

III. that COME unto GOD by HIM [HEBREWS 7:25]

1. In the imperative we are commanded to obey the Gospel

Romans 10:16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
2 Thessalonians 1:8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Hebrews 4:2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
1 Peter 4:17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

2. In the negative we are warned to NOT neglect, NOT turn back, NOT reject

3. In the positive we are admonished to believe, to receive, to accept

Hebrews 2:3; 3:7-12, 19; 4:2-3; 5:9; 10:28-32, 38-39; 11:1; 12:25; 13:20-21

HEBREWS 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
