HEBREWS 1-2
Pastor Rick
Jackson
I. GOD
THE FATHER
1. Spake by
the Bible [1:1, 2 Tim. 3:16]
All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2. Spake by
the Son [1:2a, Lk. 6: 46-48]
And why call
ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me,
and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He
is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on
a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house,
and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
3. Created
(the worlds) by (via) the Son [1:2b, Jn. 1:1-3]
In the
beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The
same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without
him was not any thing made that was made.
II. GOD
THE SON
1. Upholds
things by His Word [1:3a, Col. 1:17]
And he is
before all things, and by him all things consist
2. Purged
sins by Himself [1:3b, Mt. 8:17]
That it
might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took
our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
3. Has
better name by inheritance [1:4-14, Phil. 2:10-11]
That at the
name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth,
and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus
Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
III.
GOD’S PEOPLE
1. Spoken to
by the Lord [2:1-3]
2. Saved by
the Lord [2:9-10]
3.
Sanctified by the Lord [2:10-17]
