2 KINGS 13

I.
FOXHOLE RELIGION – FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY
1. The
Continuation of Sin [v. 1-2]
2. The
Consequences of Sin [v. 3, Gal. 6:7-10]
Be not
deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also
reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but
he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let
us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint
not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially
unto them who are of the household of faith.
3. The
Compromise of Sin [v. 4-9]
II.
FASHIONABLE RELIGION – FOR APPEARANCES ONLY
1. Like Father…
[v. 9-13]
2.
Lackadaisical Faith [v. 14-19]
3. Lord is
Faithful (to keep His Word) [v. 24-25]
III.
FAITH THAT IS REAL – FOR APPLICATION ALWAYS
1. Serving
in Sickness [v. 14-19] Love Someone!
2. Serving
in Sleep [v. 20-21, Heb. 11:4, Rev. 14:13] Leave Something!
- By faith
Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he
obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it
he being dead yet speaketh.
- And I
heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die
in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from
their labours; and their works do follow them.
3. Serving
in Scripturalness [v. 22-25, Lk. 6:46-49, Romans 8:6 ] Live Spiritually!
-And why
call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to
me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like:
He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation
on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that
house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that
heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house
upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately
it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
-For to be
carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
