GOD REVEALED
LUKE
10:17-24

I. GOD
REVEALED IN THE BOOK
1. His Self
[John 5:39, 14:9]
- Search the
scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which
testify of me.
- Jesus
saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known
me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou
then, Show us the Father?
2. His
Suffering [1 Peter 1:11]
Searching
what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did
signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory
that should follow.
3. His
Secrets [1 Cor. 2:9-16]
But as it is
written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart
of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath
revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea,
the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the
spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but
the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the
spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to
us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth,
but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are
foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually
discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is
judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct
him? But we have the mind of Christ.
II. GOD
REVEALED IN THE BODY [1 Tm. 3:16]
And without
controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed
on in the world, received up into glory.
1. In Him is Salvation [Lk. 10:20-22, 1 Peter
1:5]
-Notwithstanding
in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice,
because your names are written in heaven. In that hour Jesus rejoiced in
spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou
hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto
babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are
delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the
Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal
him.
-Who are
kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in
the last time.
2. In Him is
Safety [Lk. 10:17-19, 2 Th. 1:7]
-And the
seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto
us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall
from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
-And to you
who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
heaven with his mighty angels,
3. In Him is Satisfaction [Lk. 10:23-24, Mt.
11:27-28]
-And he
turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which
see the things that ye see: For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have
desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear
those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
-All things
are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father;
neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son
will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I
will give you rest
III. GOD
REVEALED IN THE BELIEVER [Col. 1:27]
To whom God
would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the
Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
1. His
Purpose [Gal. 1:15-16, 1 Peter 4:13, 5:1, 10]
-But when it
pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his
grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen
-But
rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his
glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
-The elders
which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the
sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
-But the God
of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after
that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle
you.
2. His
Provision [Phil. 4:19]
-But my God
shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
3. His Plan
[Rm. 1:16-17, 8:18]
-So, as much
as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
-For I
reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared
with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
