DAVID’S PRAYER, OUR PATTERN

PSALM 17

I. THE PLACE OF HIS PRAYER

 

1. The Place of Unfeigned Lips [v. 1, John 1:47]

 

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

 

2. The Place of the Focused Heart [v. 3-4, Psalm 51:10]

 

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

 

3. The Place of God’s Love, Grace, & Mercy [v. 6-8, 2 John 1:3]

 

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

 

II. THE PETITION OF HIS PRAYER

 

1. “Do Something Now” [v. 1-2]

 

2. “Help Me Be Right” [v. 3-6]

 

3. “Protect Me” [v. 7-9]

 

III. THE POINT OF HIS PRAYER

 

1. The Temporal Goal of God’s People [v. 10-13]
