II CHR. 29:1-5

I. TURNING OUR BACKS TO GOD

1. Turning From His Way [v. 6a, Isaiah 53:6]

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all

2. Turning from Him [v. 6b, 30:9]

3. Turning from His House [v. 6c-7, 1 Timothy 3:15]

But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

II. GOD TURNS OUR CIRCUMSTANCES [v. 8-9]

1. To Trouble in God’s eyes- He removes His protecting hand to some degree]

1 Corinthians 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

2. To Astonishment in Our Eyes - we’re astonished at the bad things happening to us

3. To Hissing in the Eyes of Others [Jeremiah 19:8]

And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.

III. REVIVAL-TURNING BACK TO GOD

1. Restoration of Purity [v. 4-5, 11, 15-16, I Jn. 1:9]

2. Rendering of Praise [30:21, 26]

3. Renewing of Practice [31:1, 10 cp. To 29:7]
