BE USEFUL TO GOD

2 TIMOTHY 2:21

I. BE POSITIVE FOR JESUS CHRIST [2:1-5]

1. Be Strong in His Grace [v. 1-2] Saved and Certain!

2. Endure Hardness as His Soldier [v. 3-4]

3. Strive Lawfully for His Honor [v. 5, 2 Samuel 12:14]

Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme…

 

II. BE PREPARED FOR JESUS CHRIST [2:6-15]

1. Expect Trouble [v. 6-9]

2. Endure Things [v. 10-13, Hebrews 12:2-3]

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

3. Exercise Truth [v. 14-15, 1 Timothy 4:7b]

But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

 

III. BE PARTICULAR FOR JESUS CHRIST [2:16-26]

1. Shun Babblings “kenophonia-empty talk” [v. 16-17a, 1 Timothy 4:7a]

But refuse profane and old wives' fables.

2. Depart from Deviants [v. 17b-19]

3. Purge Impurities [v. 20-26]
