I. GOD’S OMNISCIENCE SHOWS FAITH MATTERS [v. 1-15]

 

1. God Cares To Completion [v. 1-6, Philippians 1:6]

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ

2. God Calls It Straight [v. 7-10]

3. God’s Compassion to Disobedient Children [v. 11-15, Luke 13:34]

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

 

II. GOD’S FAITHFULNESS MATTERS [v. 16-24]

 

1. Man Is Unfaithful [v. 16-18]

2. God Is Faithful [v. 19, Dt. 7:9]

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

3. Unfaithfulness Has Consequences [v. 20-24]

 

III. MAN’S CHOICES MATTER

1. Bad Marriage [v. 25-27, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18]

2. Bad Decisions [v. 28, Ephesians 5:10]

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

3. Bad Health [v. 29, 1 Corinthians 11:30]

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
