Pastor Rick Jackson
If you consider all the elements of the Christian Christmas
story it is quite remarkable. Ancient prophecies, the virgin birth, angelic
appearances, miraculous warnings, a guiding star, and even more miraculous
announcements. Wow! How can you believe all that really happened? Well- I do
believe it. I do believe in Christmas. Why? Why do I believe in Christmas?
I BELIEVE IN CHRISTMAS BECAUSE -
I. I BELIEVE IN GOD [Mk. 11:22, Mt. 19:26, Heb. 11:6]
- And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
- But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this
is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
- But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he
that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them
that diligently seek him.
II. I BELIEVE IN JESUS [Jn. 14:1, Acts 8:37, Mark 9:23-24,
10:9-11]
- LET not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe
also in me.
- And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart,
thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son
of God.
- Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are
possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried
out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
- That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with
the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever
believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
III. I BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE [Is. 40:8, Luke 11:28, 1 Th. 2:13,
Romans 10:17]
- The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of
our God shall stand for ever.
- But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the
word of God, and keep it.
- For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because,
when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as
the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually
worketh also in you that believe.
- So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word
of God.
IV. I BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL [Mark 1:15, Rm. 1:16, 1 Cor.
15:1-6]
- And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God
is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
-For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and
also to the Greek.
-Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I
preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand…
V. I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT [Gen. 1:1-2, Eph. 4:4-6, 2
Cor. 13:14]
- IN the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And
the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the
deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
- There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called
in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and
Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
- The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
Given those, just as an opener, why would I have any
problem believing in Christmas?
