I. THE MESSAGE OF REDEMPTION [v. 1-4]

 

1. The Message is Universal [v. 1-2]

 

2. The Message is Understandable [v. 3]

 

3. The Message is Unspeakably Good or Bad [v. 4]

-2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

-1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

 

II. THE MAJESTY OF REDEMPTION [v. 5-9]

 

1.  As Revealed by the Powerlessness of Riches [v. 6-7]

 

2. As Revealed by the Preciousness of Redemption [v. 8]

-1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

-1 Peter 2:3-8 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

3. As Revealed by the Permanence of Redemption [v. 9]

 

III. THE MANNER OF REDEMPTION [v. 10-20]

 

1. There is the Folly of Wishful Thinking [v. 10-13, Proverbs 16:25]

-There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

 

2. There is the Fact of Separation [v. 14, 16-20]

 

3. There is the Faith of Salvation [v. 15]
