KEY CHAPTERS OF THE BIBLE - HEBREWS 11

All of the Bible is God’s Word. All of the Bible is important. But not all of the Bible is as important as other parts of the Bible. The names of the various kings of Israel and Judah are not as important as the Gospel of Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 23:23, Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. With that in mind, I start a series of sorts, entitled, “KEY CHAPTERS OF THE BIBLE.” This is not a series that will follow every week but from time to time, as the Lord leads, we will examine another key chapter. We begin tonight with Hebrews 11.

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. FAITH’S PROVISIONS

1. Faith can Provide Understanding [v. 1-3, Rm. 1:20]

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

2. Faith can Procure Salvation [v. 4. Eph. 2:8-9]

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

3. Faith can Provide Strength [v. 11, 27 endurance]

II. FAITH’S PEOPLE

1. Ordinary People [shepherds, carpenters, fishermen, farmers, tax collectors, soldiers, mothers]

2. Fearful People [v. 7]

3. Fallen People [not perfect people] Noah got drunk; Abraham, Isaac & Jacob lied; Moses lost his temper; Gideon was afraid, Jonah was prejudiced, David committed adultery…

III. FAITH’S POSSIBILITIES

1. Faith makes it Possible to Please God [v. 5-6]

2. Faith makes it Possible to Work Righteousness [v. 33-38]

3. Faith makes it Possible to Obtain a Good Report [v. 2, 39-40]
