1 TH. 4:13-18
Pastor Rick
Jackson
I. “WITH
HIM” IS THE POWER OF SALVATION [Acts 4:12, Rm. 1:16]
- Neither is
there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given
among men, whereby we must be saved.
- For I am
not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation
to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
1. “With
Him” there is Security [Jn. 6:37-40, 1 Pet. 1:5]
- All that
the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no
wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the
will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me,
that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, , but should raise it
up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every
one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I
will raise him up at the last day.
-Who are
kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in
the last time.
2. “With
Him” there is Serenity [Jn. 14:1, 27-29; Phil. 4:7]
- Let not
your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
- Peace I
leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto
you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Ye have heard
how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me , ye
would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater
than I. And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come
to pass, ye might believe.
- And the
peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.
3. “With
Him” there is Satisfaction [Ps. 17:15]
As for me, I
will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with
thy likeness.
II. “WITH
HIM” IS THE PROCESS OF SYNCHRONICITY [2 Cor. 5:17, 21]
-Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.
-For he hath
made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.
1. “With
Him” we have a Relationship with God the Father [Jn. 1:12]
But as many
as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them
that believe on his name:
2. “With
Him” we have the Indwelling Spirit of God [1 Cor. 6:11, 19-20]
-And such
were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are
justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
-What? know
ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye
have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore
glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
3. “With
Him” we have the Mind of Christ [Phil. 2:5, 3:14-15, 4:6-7]
- Let this
mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
- I press
toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let
us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be
otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
- Be careful
for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth
all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
III.
“WITHOUT HIM” IS THE PATH OF SIN & SORROW
1. “Without
Him” there is No Relationship [Eph. 2:11-13]
- Wherefore
remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called
Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by
hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the
commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no
hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes
were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
2. “Without
Him” there is No Hope [Eph. 2:13, 19]
-But now in
Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of
Christ.
- Now
therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints,
and of the household of God;
3. “Without
Him” there is No Peace [Is. 48:22, Eph. 2:14-18]
-There is no
peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.
- For he is
our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of
partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of
commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new
man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by
the cross, having slain the enmity thereby : And came and preached peace to you
which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have
access by one Spirit unto the Father.
