James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Pastor Rick Jackson
I. SIN IS THE ONE
REASON WE NEED SALVATION
1. One Sinner Was
Enough to Infect All People [Rm. 5:12-14]
Wherefore , as by one man sin entered into the world, and
death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For
until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no
law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not
sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him
that was to come.
2. One Sin Enough to Condemn All Sinners [James 2:10-11]
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in
one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said
also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art
become a transgressor of the law.
3. One Span of Life to Make the Right Choice [Heb. 9:27-28,
4:2]
-And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this
the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto
them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto
salvation.
-For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them:
but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them
that heard it.
II. GOD’S WAY IS THE
ONE WAY OF SALVATION
1. Only One Price
Could Be Paid [Rm. 6:23, 5:6-8]
- For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is
the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first,
and also to the Greek.
-For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ
died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet
peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his
love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
2. Only One Person Could Pay the Price [1 Timothy 2:5]
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus]
3. Only One Plan Could Perfect the People [Rm. 1:16, Heb.
10:14, 2 Cor. 5:21]
- For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is
the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first,
and also to the Greek.
-For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that
are sanctified.
-For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin;
that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
III. THE CHRISTIAN
LIFE IS THE ONE WALK OF SALVATION
1. An Acceptance of His Lordship – A Believing Faith [Lk.
6:44-46, Acts 9:6]
-For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men
do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of
the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil
man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:
for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. And why call ye me, Lord,
Lord, and do not the things which I say?
- And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou
have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it
shall be told thee what thou must do.
2. An Acceptance of His Leadership – A Bible Faith [Mark
11:22, Lk. 6:47-49]
- And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
- Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth
them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an
house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood
arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for
it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man
that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the
stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house
was great.
3. An Acceptance of Your Ambassadorship – A Bold Faith [2
Cor. 5:17-20]
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old
things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are
of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us
the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the
world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed
unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as
though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye
reconciled to God.
Be the One! Be the one who follows God, be the one who
believes God, be the one who prays, be the one who gives, be the one who
witnesses, be the one that and say, with Paul, “I press toward the mark for the
prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14
