ZECH. 9:9, MT. 21:1-13

I. WHAT’S THE MATTER? [Zech. 9:9]

 

1. It’s a Matter of Revelation [Isaiah 46:9-10]

 

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

 

2. It’s a Matter of Record [Mt. 21:5]

 

3. It’s a Matter of Rejoicing [Zech. 9:9]

 

II. WHERE IT MATTERS [Zech. 9:9]

 

1. Israel is Not Forgotten [Zech. 12:10, 13:1, 4; 14:4]

 

2. Jerusalem is not Forsaken [Ps. 137: 5-6, Luke 13:34]

 

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

 

3. The World is Not Forfeited [Zech. 9:9-10, 14:9]

 

III. WHY IT MATTERS

 

1. It is a Matter of Royalty [Mt. 21:5]

 

2. It is a Matter of Righteousness [Zech. 9:9, Romans 10:3-6, 10]

 

For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

 

3. It is a Matter of Redemption [Mt. 21:9-13]

 

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place
