HOW TO CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING IN JUNE

PSALM 116:1-2, 17

Pastor Rick Jackson

As we mentioned last week, we are, for the most part, familiar with “Christmas in July.”  I am almost positive that was a retailer’s idea to boost sales. Far more scriptural is the idea of Thanksgiving in June. We celebrate Christmas in December. We celebrate Thanksgiving the month previous so if we are going to tolerate Christmas in July, we should certainly honor Thanksgiving in June.

I. REVIEW YOUR BLESSING [v. 3-5]

1. Why You Became a Child of God [v. 3] Conviction

2. When You Became a Child of God [v. 4, John 1:12] Reception

3. How You Became a Child of God [v. 5-6] Redemption

II. RECLAIM YOUR BLESSING [v. 7-16]

1. Live for Him Who Died for You [v. 7-9]

2. Speak to Him Who Spoke to You [v. 10-13]

3. Serve Him Who Set You Free [v. 14-16]

III. REJOICE OVER YOUR BLESSINGS [v. 17-19]

1. With Your Lips [v. 17, Hebrews 13:15]

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

2. With Your Life [v. 18, Romans 12:1]

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

3. With Your Love [v. 19, 1
