RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING

[The Basics of Christianity #8]

PSALM 119:11

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. THE RIGHT WORD

1. The Word of God [1 Thessalonians 2:13] For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

2. Not the Word of Satan [Jn. 8:44]

Jesus said of the Devil, “He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

3. Not the Word of Men [Romans 3:4] let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written,

Charles Wesley said,  The Bible must be the invention either of good men or angels, bad men or devils, or of God.

It could not be the invention of good men or angels; for they neither would or could make a book, and tell lies all the time they were writing it, saying, “Thus saith the Lord,” when it was their own invention.

It could not be the invention of bad men or devils; for they would not make a book which commands all duty, forbids all sin, and condemns their souls to hell to all eternity.

Therefore, I draw this conclusion, that the Bible must by given by divine inspiration.

II. THE RIGHT PLACE

No one can “reason” God with their minds {though they can reason with God] Isaiah 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

1. To Protect it from the Devil [Luke 8:11-12]

2. To Protect it from the Flesh [Luke 8:13]

3. To Protect it from the World [Luke 8:14-15]

III. FOR THE RIGHT REASON

1. Sins of Commission [1 John 3:4]

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Mt. 19:16-18] And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

2. Sins of Omission [Mt. 19:19-22]

Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

3. Sins of Ignorance/Doubt [Romans 14:23]

And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
