MARK 4:35-41
Pastor Rick Jackson
I. DON’T FEAR
1. Circumstances when you are in the Will of God [Mk. 4:35-40]
And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto
them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the
multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with
him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves
beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of
the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master,
carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said
unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
2. Persecution when you do the Will of God [Mt. 10:16-27]
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be
ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for
they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their
synagogues; And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for
a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take
no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same
hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your
Father which speaketh in you. And the brother shall deliver up the brother to
death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their
parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men
for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. But when
they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto
you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be
come. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It
is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his
lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more
shall they call them of his household? Fear them not therefore: for there is
nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the
ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
3. Those that kill the body when you do the Will of God [Mt.
10:28]
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to
kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body
in hell.
4. Not having Men’s Respect when you do the Will of God [Mt.
10:29-33]
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them
shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your
head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many
sparrows. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men , him will I confess
also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before
men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
5. God not knowing your Human Frailties when He tells you to
do His Will [Lk. 5:8-10]
When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus knees,
saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished ,
and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:
And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with
Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch
men.
II. DO FEAR
1. DO FEAR Facing God Unsaved [Mt. 10:28]
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to
kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body
in hell.
2. DO FEAR Facing God Unconvinced [Mark 4:41]
And they feared exceedingly , and said one to another, What
manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
3. DO FEAR Facing God Unconfessed [Mark 5:24-34] “knowing
the terror of the Lord”
And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and
thronged him. And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she
had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse , When she had heard of
Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I
may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of
her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that
plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of
him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his
disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou,
Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and
fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her,
Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy
plague.
4. DO FEAR Facing God Unclean [2 Corinthians 11:3]
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve
through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity
that is in Christ.
5. DO FEAR Facing God Unafraid [1 Peter 2:17] (without awe
or without reverential fear)
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the
king.
