THE SECRET OF CONTENTMENT

1 Timothy 6:6

I. THE SECRET OF CONTENTMENT IS A PERSON – THE LORD JESUS CHRIST [John 1:12]

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

1. Only Jesus can Save You to the Uttermost [Hebrews 7:25]

-Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

2. Only Jesus Can Change You unto His Image [1 Corinthians 15:49, 2 Corinthians 3:18]

-As we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

-But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

3. Only Jesus Can Guide You into All Truth [John 1:14, 17; 16:7, 13]

-And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

-For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

-Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

-Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

II. THE SECRET OF CONTENTMENT IS A PLAN [Mk. 10:29-30]

And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

1. Die to Self [John 12:24]

- Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

2. Live for Christ [Philippians 1:21] - For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

3. Be Filled with the Spirit [Ephesians 5:18]

-And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

III. THE SECRET OF CONTENTMENT IS A PATH [Psalm 16:11]

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
