THE THREE SADDEST DAYS IN HISTORY

Pastor Rick Jackson

I. THE FALL OF MAN

1. The Fall of Man was Devilish [2 Corinthians 11:3, Revelation 12:9]

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

2. The Fall of Man was Deliberate [1 Timothy 2:13-14]

For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

3. The Fall of Man was Disastrous [Romans 5:12]

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

II. THE CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST

1. The Hate of It [John 7:7, 15:18, Mt. 27:17-18]

The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? For he knew that for envy [ill will] they had delivered him.

2. The Host of It [Luke 22: 1-6]

Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
3. The Horror of It [Mt. 27:26-50]

III. THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT

1. It Reeks of Our Failures [Ezekiel 33:8-9]

When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

2. It Represents Man’s Foolishness [Mt. 7:21-23, Lk. 14:18ff]

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

3. It’s Results are Final [Rev. 20:11-15]

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
