“WHAT A GATHERING”

2 Thessalonians 2:1

A class reunion, a revival meeting, a homecoming game, a family reunion, a convention of like-minded individuals, a political rally, or a fireworks display. These are just a few "gatherings" we are all familiar with. But each one pales beyond the gathering mentioned in the song or in our text. Imagine if you will those gathered out of every nation, every tribe, every group and all with one thing in common:

Revelation 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

What a Gathering!

I. THE PEOPLE OF THE GATHERING

1. The People of the Gathering are People who Believed [v. 3, 10] Notables and unknowns...

2. The People of the Gathering are People who Obeyed the Gospel [v. 8]

3. The People of the Gathering are People who Were Sanctified by the One in whose Gospel they believed [v. 10]

II. THE PLACE OF THE GATHERING

1. The Place of the Gathering is a Place Of Rest [1:7]

2. The Place of the Gathering is a Place With Christ [2:1]

3. The Place of the Gathering is a Place Of Everlasting Consolation [2:16]

As great as the place may be, as wonderful as the people in the gathering may be the truth is there is no comparison to:

III. THE PERSON OF THE GATHERING [2:1]

1. The Person of the Gathering will be revealed from Heaven [1:7]

2. The Person of the Gathering will be glorified in His Saints [1:10, 12]

3. The Person of the Gathering will be admired in His Saints [1:10]
