1 Corinthians 10:31
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of
God.
Pastor Rick Jackson
“The glory of God” is sometimes a strange concept to us- we
kind of know what it is but we kind of don’t. We kind of want to give God the
glory but we would like to have a little glory, or maybe more than a little,
for ourselves. What we probably all could use is a little refresher course on
the subject – the Glory of God.
I. GOD DESERVES GLORY
BECAUSE HE IS THE CREATOR
-Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament
sheweth his handiwork.
-Rm. 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God
into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted
beasts, and creeping things.
-1 Cor. 11:7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head,
forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of
the man.
II. GOD DESERVES
GLORY BECAUSE HE IS THE SAVIOUR
-Ps. 79:9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of
thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.
-Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace,
good will toward men.
-Rm. 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory
of God;
-Rm. 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this
grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
-Rm. 15:7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also
received us to the glory of God.
-2 Cor. 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of
darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the
glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
III. GOD DESERVES
GLORY BECAUSE HE IS THE HEALER
-Luke 17:18 There are not found that returned to give glory
to God, save this stranger.
-John 11:4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is
not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be
glorified thereby.
IV. GOD RECEIVES
GLORY WHEN WE
1. Exercise Faith in His Word –
-Jn. 11:40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that,
if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
-Rm. 4:20 He staggered not at the promise of God through
unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
-2 Cor. 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and
in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
-Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need
according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
2. Specifically Give Him the Glory -
-Acts 12:23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him,
because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the
ghost.
-Rm. 16:27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ
for ever. Amen.
-1 Cor. 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or
whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
-2 Cor. 4:15 For all things are for your sakes, that the
abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of
God.
-Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
3. Live for Him –
-Gal. 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the
cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I
unto the world.
-Philippians 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of
righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
-Philippians 4:20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for
ever and ever. Amen.
-1 Cor. 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or
whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
